In parts of the world with Mediterranean climates, Zantedeschia aethiopica has escaped from gardens and established itself in the countryside, thriving with no care.

Photographed at the Cape of Good Hope. Frequently this species' name is given to the common Agapanthus, correctly called Agapanthus praecox ssp. orientalis. It is a much larger plant. Agapanthus are popular in California, being easy to grow, drought resistant and trouble free.
